The greatest draw back is the sample sizes and the long tedious download process. It is a serious instrument, however it is fun to work with even on a more superficial level. There are a large number of You Tube videos that demonstrate both the use and potential of this synth. It is a very sophisticated instrument however you do not need to understand the technical differences between sampling techniques to be able to use and enjoy them. The program allows the ability to use programmable patterns and attach them to be triggered independently by key board keys lying outside of the range of the instruments you are actively addressing. It is likewise possible to have several instruments share a common channel and effects chain while maintaining the ability to control the relative volume of each individual component. The samples can be loaded on individual channels, mixed and modified with special effects such as reverb, etc. The synth can readily be enhanced with more specialized sample libraries which are available for download from IK's online store. It is supplied with a large variety of well sampled standard instruments such as Brass, Woodwinds,Strings and Chromatics and is supplied with a pleasant sounding Piano sample as well. I have personally tried it inside SONAR Platinum and Studio 1.4 Pro. It can be used as a stand alone module or as an additional synth within a DAW environment. This is a well thought out synth with clean, well voiced samples.
